Eric Lawee

Prof. Eric Lawee is the 2017-2018 Shoshana Shier Distinguished Visiting Professor.

 

Prof. Lawee’s research focuses on medieval and early modern Judaism in the Mediterranean and northern Europe.

Prof. Lawee received his PhD from Harvard University with distinction in 1993. Since 2012, he has been an associate Professor in the Dept. of Bible at Bar Ilan University. In 2001, Prof. Lawee published Isaac Abarbanel’s Stance Toward Tradition: Defense, Dissent, and Dialogue with University of New York Press. He is currently working on a second book entitled, Canon and Commentary:  Rashis Resisting Readers. He has over 30 published works in the field of Jewish Studies,
