Pride or Prejudice? Folklore and Nationalism in the Film The Dybbuk (1937)

This lecture investigates the renown Yiddish Film The Dybbuk, pointing at the various, and at times conflicting ways in which it employs Jewish ethnography. The lecture includes screening of two short clips from the film and a PowerPoint presentation with many relevant images.
