Description: Sarah Schenirer and the Bais Yaakov Movement: A Revolution in the Name of Tradition traces the history and character of the Bais Yaakov schools for Orthodox girls from the 1917 founding of the first school by Schenirer--a divorced seamstress with an eighth-grade education--until today, when hundreds of schools flourish in thirteen countries. This book launch features a concert of Yiddish songs  from a 1931 school songbook, arranged and performed by the singer-songwriter Basya Schechter.
