Mourning the Victims of the Attack in New Zealand Mosques

We are horrified and deeply saddened by the terrorist attack that took place in Christchurch, New Zealand on Friday, March 15th. 50 people were killed during prayer in two mosques; they were murdered solely because they were Muslim. The Anne Tanenbaum Centre for Jewish Studies strongly condemns this brutal act of violence and as President Gertler stated, “We stand in solidarity with Muslims around the world in their shock, grief and outrage in the wake of these despicable attacks.” We express our heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims in New Zealand and we promise to stand together with them against hatred, racism, and islamophobia; our unity against violence and hate is where our strength is found.
